ProtonXMPP is supported by a strong security foundation:
SSL encryption
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encrypts the connections between parts of the Jabber network, the same method that is used to encrypt website traffic (HTTPS). We always require encryption and use only the strongest available encryption methods.
Secure password storing
Unlike many other Jabber/XMPP servers, we no do not store passwords in plain text but encrypt them using the Blowfish algorithm.

ProtonXMPP features “In Band Registration”, which means that you can register an account directly from your client. ProtonXMPP recommends using Pidgin as your IM client. Download pidgin here.
